i always expect my period on the seventh of every month and it hasn't come yet, so i'm sort of stressing out, because i'm not PMSing at all, and no sign of it. I haven't lost any weight, and i'm not taking any medication at present which might stop it. usually when i take a ton of ibuprofen it's still quite heavy but not as much and i don't get any pain, although i'm a little moody. i haven't had any ibuprofen lately, in fact no painkillers in the last week. What's happening?

Periods aren't always consistant, especially in younger girls. As long as you've not had unprotected sex lately, it's nothing to worry about

I've had my periods for like 5 years now, still not very predictable. It's quite annoying!

It's pretty common for them to be spaced out at your age. They were for me too. In one way it's annoying because you worry but in another it's a blessing

so nice to see at your age, you haven't started sex yet!

don't worry so much with your periods, at your age, hormones are all over the place!

Well, if you're expecting it on the seventh of every month, that's your first mistake. Some months have 30 days and some have 31, then you have February. It's a really really good thing to start keeping track of your periods. Do you do that? I've been keeping track of mine for years now, and it's a great thing. You can go back and see if your periods space out a bit more when the seasons change, you can determine if there are other patterns at all as well. A normal woman has her periods around 28 days apart. However, some women have their periods 21 days apart, and I used to be five to six weeks apart for ages. Just remember that your body goes on its own schedule. Some months you may be a day or two earlier or later than the last, and that's totally normal and okay.

Also, I just want to say, don't get on the hating your period bandwagon. It's really not that bad. If you have bad cramps or symptoms associated with your period, it's probably your body trying to send you some messages about your life in general, and it's a good tool to use to learn about yourself. If you hate your period, you will only compound any difficulties you have and end up making it worse. It's just a part of life, and if you look at it in a diffferent light you can think of it as a time to just pamper yourself for a couple days, or a good excuse to slow down and think about how the last month has gone for you. It's all about perspective.

At 14, I'm sure your body is still adjusting to the rather new event, so once it gets adjusted, etc... things should be fine!

Welcome to woman hood! My youngest is the same age as you & whenever she has exams at school her periods go all over the place. Have you ever read a book on the subject? Every woman is different & this may be your body reacting to some normal everyday thing that you've not mentioned. If your really worried, go & speak to your school nurse, or ask to see a lady doctor, who can reasure you that all is well.

I use this site (not sure if i can post it or not but I'll give to you through a pm if you like) that helps me track down my periods. You just add the day it starts and keep adding on till it stops. After a few months of using it it can predict the date that it will start the next 3 months. It's either right or a day or two behind or ahead so it's not exact but at least it helps me so i know if can plan a day at the beach or not and be prepared for it or have a care free day.
